Our Creative Scope:
Brand Identity
Brand Strategy
Tone of Voice
Logo Design
Packaging Design
Product naming
Key Messaging
The Context:
We first think of food waste as the scraps scraped off our plate post-meal, but there’s more to hidden waste. Think orange husks from juicers, cascara from coffee roasters, “ugly” bananas from markets.
The Client:
As a new disruptor of the alcoholic spirits industry, Damaged Goods Distilling Co., offer customers the sustainable enjoyment of super-premium spirits, putting perfectly imperfect, flavour-packed waste streams to good use and challenging norms of a broken food system (where one-third of all food produced around the world goes to waste).
The Challenge:
Their name: a great start.
Their super-premium spirits: taste even greater.
Their sustainable operation: the ugly cherry on top.
A strong brand identity was needed to enhance their non-traditional disruptor status. In the crowded alcoholic beverage space, they had to not only grab consumers’ attention, but also educate them on why they are different.
The Solution:
Damaged Goods Distilling Co. considers food waste the hero. Their packaging reflects their super-premium ‘slice of luxury’ stance; yet celebrates the perfectly imperfect.
A bright and bold colour palette.
A series of abstract illustrations of imperfect ingredients.
A custom street-art style typography and loosely drawn graffiti-style visual elements.
A memorable Get Unwasted tagline to match their dynamic disruptor identity.
The Outcome:
Damaged Goods Distilling Co. has been received very well by major bottle shop chains and bars in Western Australia. Everyone from clients to customers loves the branding as it truly stands out on shelf. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to this achievement, and we look forward to continuing to help brands reach their full potential.
